A very warm welcome to Polowen 

We are delighted that your child will be joining our Polowen community.

Starting somewhere new can bring lots of different emotions for both children and families. Whether you are feeling excited, nervous, hopeful, or all three, we want you to know that you are not alone. We are here to support you every step of the way.

Polowen is a specialist provision based within Poltair School. It has been created to provide a safe, nurturing and supportive environment where every young person is known, understood and encouraged to flourish.

Our vision is simple: we want every learner to feel happy, valued and confident enough to be themselves. We believe that when children feel safe and supported, they are able to learn, develop independence, build relationships and achieve their own personal success.

Although Polowen has its own specialist spaces and dedicated staff, it is also very much part of the wider Poltair community. Wherever appropriate, learners will have opportunities to access the wider school, helping them to build confidence, develop friendships and feel a sense of belonging.

We know that you know your child best. That's why we see parents and carers as essential partners. By working together, sharing information and communicating openly, we can make sure your child receives the support they need to thrive.

Every child at Polowen is unique. We celebrate each learner's strengths, interests and individuality, and we will tailor support to help them make progress at a pace that is right for them. Success looks different for every child, and we will celebrate every achievement, no matter how big or small.

Our dedicated team is committed to creating an environment where children are encouraged to develop confidence, character and curiosity. Alongside learning, we place great importance on communication, independence, wellbeing, friendships and preparing young people for the future.

We hope that Polowen will become a place where your child feels happy to come each day and where your family feels welcomed, listened to and supported.
