Welcome To Our School Website

Stephen Tong Headmaster

Welcome to the Poltair School website. I hope that it provides you with a comprehensive introduction to our values, expectations and ways of working.

At Poltair School we are committed to maintaining the very highest standards. Our task, on your behalf and in partnership with you, is to ensure that all our pupils 'Believe and Achieve.' Our positive approach seeks to identify and nurture the ability and talent in every learner and to ensure through an array of experiences and opportunities that everyone has the chance to shine.

Poltair School is a happy school where individuality and difference are recognised and embraced and curiosity, creativity and leadership are fostered. In addition, every learner has the right to strive for success and to have their successes celebrated. We are a disciplined and caring environment where respect for each other, small courtesies and good manners are held in very high regard.

Learning is at the heart of all that we do and in order to prepare young people to become the citizens of the future the learning must be fun, challenging and be about real life and the real world. It is in this way that we will shape the positive, confident, skilled and qualified young adults who can meet the demands of our ever changing world and make their own contributions to society and their community.

As a Sports College, we promote health, fitness and a sense of well-being. We believe in the importance of fair play as well as putting in the hard work needed to make things better. We recognise how crucial it is to be part of a team; indeed, this is why we seek to work so closely with pupils, parents, staff, governors and the wider community in all that we do.

Thank you very much for your interest in our work and I hope that you enjoy exploring our website. However in order to get a full flavour of the school, I would encourage you to make personal contact or even better to visit us and see what we do 'live'.

Policy Review

Dear Parents and Carers

As you may be aware, the statutory guidance from the Department for Education around Relationships and Sex Education has changed. Here at Poltair School, we have worked hard to think about how to teach this to our students, making sure that our lessons are engaging and designed to suit the needs of all of our students in an age appropriate manner. Students will have a lesson called Personal Development once a fortnight, in which this and other topics will be covered. This was formerly known as Morals and Ethics.

We would like to get feedback from our community in order to finalise our policy on the delivery of this important curriculum area. Our draft policy is available on our website for your consideration, and we welcome any questions, comments or feedback via email to Clare Price ([email protected]). When we are able to open up the site to parents and carers, we will hold a review and consultation meeting at school to consider our policy and delivery further. Please send any communications by 10th July 2020 at the latest.

Contact during exceptional circumstances

It is important that all children, families and professionals are able to contact key staff to share information in respect of safeguarding and concerns.

Following the wider opening of all CELT schools, there is now a member of the safeguarding team on duty in school every day. Please contact the school directly and ask for the DSL if you have any concerns you wish to discuss.

The dedicated CELT e mail address is still in operation and can be used if, for any reason, you are unable to contact the school;

[email protected]

This will be monitored during office hours only, Monday to Friday.

However, you should contact the Police or Social Care if you feel that a child is at risk of immediate serious harm.

The Poltair Art Department have started a Poltair Pinterest page.

Students are emailing work they have completed at home to their teachers, the work is then showcased on the page.

Some fantastic work on there already:
