Dartmoor was rough, wild and ready for the new recruits who are preparing for the coming Ten Tors Challenge in May 2019. On Saturday 13th October, participants from Year 9 and 10 travelled to Dartmoor to see the moor in one of its true colours.
'It was amazing! There were ups and downs... hills in particular! But when we got to the top of the hill and saw the finish it was great!' Tamsin Goodrich.
The teams learnt the basics of navigation, how to cross rivers safely, walked efficiently as a team and experienced some challenging weather conditions.
'The first day of training was really fun but the weather conditions were definitely tough. It was a challenging walk but every time we could see our target, it was an amazing feeling. We pushed ourselves hard and at the end it was totally worth it!' Gwen Olsen.
Theory training will continue in the classroom until the next training on Saturday 3rd November
