Kernow Youth Book Awards

On Wednesday 25th April our group attended the KYBA Awards ceremony at The Eden Project. KYBA was formed 11 years ago as Cornwall's own book award. We read 6 books and voted on our favourite. When we went to Eden one of the activities was to help choose the next year's long book list.

This year Ali Sparks hosted the event and had us all laughing, she had been one of the authors of the 6 books last year, but didn't manage to win. Other schools did presentations about their favourite books and the author's present made speeches and the ones that were unable to attend sent videos.

We had the opportunity to purchase books and get them signed by the authors during the break.

A presentation on Goldfish Boy won, it was very interesting and combined music and poetry into it, this year's winner was Haunt Me by Liz Kessler. We felt it was well deserved as we had enjoyed it. We look forward to taking part again next year.

Thanks to Mrs Braithwaite and Mrs Hancock for their support with this.
