Handball

Year 10 Handball Team January 2016The Year 10 Squad enjoyed a very good start to the season on Tuesday 19th January and showed their versatility on court. The girls were happy to play in different positions to create the strongest combination to aid the match. Our defence stayed strong with the likes of Kerry Hipwell and Ellie Gibbons swapping in and out of goal and continuing to play well outfield with Ellie scoring the opening goal. The same squad previously qualified for the Cornwall School Games but have vastly improved since then, playing as one and displaying a high level of team work. The goals kept flowing ending in a win of 6 - 4 with other goal scorers being Cita, Amber and Aimee. None of this would have been possible without the hard work of Holly and Lauren in the midfield area, working solidly in defence and attack.

Netball

Under 12's Netball Team January 2016The U12s have had a promising start to their netball careers at Poltair School. Our strong defence of Callie and Willow have developed throughout the season and have both made excellent progress. Emily and Jessica have improved their shooting technique and our central attacking players have learnt many new skills and tips. We have had a successful win against Fowey winning 4 - 1 and thoroughly enjoyed their first match. Many of the girls are lucky enough to be going to watch the players within the Junior League at the Ben Ainsley Centre in Truro on Sunday 24th January.

Our Year 9 and 10's also played against Fowey but unfortunately lost but they all played well and have dedicated a lot of time and commitment to netball over the past 4 years. Well done to Amber, Cita, Aimee, Holly, Emily R, Emily J, Georgia, Angelina and Molly.

Policy Review

Dear Parents and Carers

As you may be aware, the statutory guidance from the Department for Education around Relationships and Sex Education has changed. Here at Poltair School, we have worked hard to think about how to teach this to our students, making sure that our lessons are engaging and designed to suit the needs of all of our students in an age appropriate manner. Students will have a lesson called Personal Development once a fortnight, in which this and other topics will be covered. This was formerly known as Morals and Ethics.

We would like to get feedback from our community in order to finalise our policy on the delivery of this important curriculum area. Our draft policy is available on our website for your consideration, and we welcome any questions, comments or feedback via email to Clare Price ([email protected]). When we are able to open up the site to parents and carers, we will hold a review and consultation meeting at school to consider our policy and delivery further. Please send any communications by 10th July 2020 at the latest.

Contact during exceptional circumstances

It is important that all children, families and professionals are able to contact key staff to share information in respect of safeguarding and concerns.

Following the wider opening of all CELT schools, there is now a member of the safeguarding team on duty in school every day. Please contact the school directly and ask for the DSL if you have any concerns you wish to discuss.

The dedicated CELT e mail address is still in operation and can be used if, for any reason, you are unable to contact the school;

[email protected]

This will be monitored during office hours only, Monday to Friday.

However, you should contact the Police or Social Care if you feel that a child is at risk of immediate serious harm.

The Poltair Art Department have started a Poltair Pinterest page.

Students are emailing work they have completed at home to their teachers, the work is then showcased on the page.

Some fantastic work on there already:
