It's third time lucky for Graham Dawe's men, who were beaten by Lancashire in the last two finals. After three attempts Cornwall have finally got their hands on the Bill Beaumont Cup at Twickenham.

Mr Matt Shepherd, a Behaviour Support Worker at Poltair, was named 'Man of the Match', Matt scored 15 of Cornwall's points, including bagging both of their tries; Cornwall tries: Shepherd (2); Con: Shepherd: Pens: Shepherd, Searle

Well done and congratulations!

Mrs Hearn - Raising money for Hemihelp

On Saturday 31 May, our School Counsellor Mrs Abi Hearn, took part in the annual 'South Coast Roll' at Goodwood Motor Racing Circuit near Chichester. This is a fun day organised for anyone on wheels, be it scooters, skateboards, roller blades or roller skates to skate around the 2.4 miles of the race track.

Abi, who is part of a roller derby team, decided with another team member, to skate around the track, not once, not twice but eleven times! Making it a marathon (26.4 miles in total)!

This was to raise money for 'Hemihelp', a charity which offers support and advice to parents of children who have been diagnosed with hemiplegia, a form of cerebral palsy, a condition which affects 1 in 1,000 children.

The day was very wet and there were some very slippery moments but the girls completed it in 3 hours and 40 minutes!

If you would like to donate to 'Hemihelp' via Abi's JustGiving page the website is

Policy Review

Dear Parents and Carers

As you may be aware, the statutory guidance from the Department for Education around Relationships and Sex Education has changed. Here at Poltair School, we have worked hard to think about how to teach this to our students, making sure that our lessons are engaging and designed to suit the needs of all of our students in an age appropriate manner. Students will have a lesson called Personal Development once a fortnight, in which this and other topics will be covered. This was formerly known as Morals and Ethics.

We would like to get feedback from our community in order to finalise our policy on the delivery of this important curriculum area. Our draft policy is available on our website for your consideration, and we welcome any questions, comments or feedback via email to Clare Price ([email protected]). When we are able to open up the site to parents and carers, we will hold a review and consultation meeting at school to consider our policy and delivery further. Please send any communications by 10th July 2020 at the latest.

Contact during exceptional circumstances

It is important that all children, families and professionals are able to contact key staff to share information in respect of safeguarding and concerns.

Following the wider opening of all CELT schools, there is now a member of the safeguarding team on duty in school every day. Please contact the school directly and ask for the DSL if you have any concerns you wish to discuss.

The dedicated CELT e mail address is still in operation and can be used if, for any reason, you are unable to contact the school;

[email protected]

This will be monitored during office hours only, Monday to Friday.

However, you should contact the Police or Social Care if you feel that a child is at risk of immediate serious harm.

The Poltair Art Department have started a Poltair Pinterest page.

Students are emailing work they have completed at home to their teachers, the work is then showcased on the page.

Some fantastic work on there already:
