Poltair School starts the new school year with a newly configured Leadership Team. This includes some new and recognisable faces as well as a new structure and some new strategic roles. The pupils were formally introduced last week during assemblies, although they were well aware of the changes having been involved in all of the interview processes.

Poltair - Newly Configured Leadership Team

Joining Stephen Tong, Headteacher, will be two Deputy Headteachers; Melanie Haselden and Claire White. Alongside them will be three Assistant Headteachers; Ross Mack and Steve Watkinson will already be well-known to our community as will Tammy Brain in a very short space of time. This is a very exciting moment in Poltairís ongoing improvement journey.

We can feel rightly proud of another record-breaking year completed with every confidence that we have some very exciting people in charge of exactly the right elements of the school so that it gets even better still.

Policy Review

Dear Parents and Carers

As you may be aware, the statutory guidance from the Department for Education around Relationships and Sex Education has changed. Here at Poltair School, we have worked hard to think about how to teach this to our students, making sure that our lessons are engaging and designed to suit the needs of all of our students in an age appropriate manner. Students will have a lesson called Personal Development once a fortnight, in which this and other topics will be covered. This was formerly known as Morals and Ethics.

We would like to get feedback from our community in order to finalise our policy on the delivery of this important curriculum area. Our draft policy is available on our website for your consideration, and we welcome any questions, comments or feedback via email to Clare Price ([email protected]). When we are able to open up the site to parents and carers, we will hold a review and consultation meeting at school to consider our policy and delivery further. Please send any communications by 10th July 2020 at the latest.

Contact during exceptional circumstances

It is important that all children, families and professionals are able to contact key staff to share information in respect of safeguarding and concerns.

Following the wider opening of all CELT schools, there is now a member of the safeguarding team on duty in school every day. Please contact the school directly and ask for the DSL if you have any concerns you wish to discuss.

The dedicated CELT e mail address is still in operation and can be used if, for any reason, you are unable to contact the school;

[email protected]

This will be monitored during office hours only, Monday to Friday.

However, you should contact the Police or Social Care if you feel that a child is at risk of immediate serious harm.

A reflection on the ideas, thoughts, feelings, surroundings and effects of the Corona school closures on Poltair pupils.

The Poltair Art Department have started a Poltair Pinterest page.

Students are emailing work they have completed at home to their teachers, the work is then showcased on the page.

Some fantastic work on there already:
