Year 7 Humanities Field Trip
Humanities is about real living people and places and recently the whole of Year 7 experienced as much on the annual Year 7 Field Trip to Lostwithiel and they produced some outstanding work in the process.
In RE Year 7 have been looking at the church and in Lostwithiel they had the opportunity to explore St Bartholomew's. Pupils noted its thirteenth century tower, magnificent spire and spectacular stained glass window before investigating further and hearing the story of St Bartholomew and discovering pirates' graves in the churchyard.

On returning to school pupils made some handy and useful brochures and leaflets.

Overlooking the River Fowey, the geographers, having been taught the techniques in class, were now able to put their field sketching skills into practice.

Meanwhile the History department were at Restormel Castle and pupils were able to gain an insight into life in the Middle Ages.

Enthused by the visit the year group then produced some work of immense potential. No more so than Katie Cooper Matthew who entered this fantastic motte and bailey castle to win the "Castle Competition".
The competition was very fierce indeed and these are some of the other prize winning entries:

The Lostwithiel field trip was part of the Humanities Section's contribution to the "My Cornwall" project.
