Thirst Quenchers
School can often be thirsty work so it was fortunate that Year 8 Citizenship Day was devoted to producing a quenching fruit drink.
Following their successful joint venture last year members of the DT and Geography Departments got their heads together to design a most imaginative and very instructive programme for the whole Year group.
Faced with the test of producing a drink suitable to be sold to the rest of the school, groups of eight pupils rose to the challenge.
Not only did the drink have to taste sublime, but pupils had to consider the food miles involved in the production, design the packaging as well as devise an advertising campaign. And if that was not enough they then had to present their ideas to a judging panel!
Undeterred though, the competition was fierce and the judges had a very tough - but let's not forget enjoyable - time tasting the drinks and choosing a winner.
Lead Judge, newly appointed Head Teacher, Stephen Tong, awarded the prizes to the winners and concluded that pupils at Poltair still surprise him by working with such unbridled enthusiasm and passion for their work.
Fellow panellist, school canteen manager, Pauline Oulds, admitted that deciding on the winner was a difficult task because the standard was so high. "I expect the drink to be a best seller when we sell it on Friday" she added.
Sue Reynolds from Asda made up the panel and was suitably impressed with all the pupils and confessed to having had a really enjoyable day with us.

Working out the air miles is a serious business for Josh.
