Pupils and staff at Poltair certainly entered into the spirit of this year's Comic Relief theme of 'do something funny for money'. Many people chose to dress in comic outfits, hats or masks. Some committed themselves to a whole day's silence, or a day of walking backwards, or a day of speaking entirely in French. There were a range of competitions to enter from Dom Bishop's 'guess how many sweets in a jar' to Mrs Hancock's 'name the teacher' from a selection of photos of staff as children. The biggest crowd-puller without doubt was a lunchtime badminton match between Adam Solomon of Year 11 and teacher Mrs Gaukroger. The Sports hall was packed to witness Adam being defeated by a substantial margin . However he played courageously right to the end and accepted his forfeit with good grace (having to wear a PE skirt for the rest of the day!)
