Head of Faculty English

Poltair School is an 11 to 16 comprehensive school in St Austell on the south coast of Cornwall. In September 2011, Ofsted reported that, "attainment is improving strongly". In 2011 we celebrated record GCSE pass rates and are passionate about strengthening teaching and learning to build on these encouraging results. In English, 67% of pupils achieved three levels progress - a three year trend of significant improvement which Ofsted stated was "particularly impressive".
English results show an improvement of 13% in the proportion of students gaining an A* to C grade since 2008". Ofsted September 2011
The English department has considerable strengths and now requires a dynamic leader to take them on the next phase of their development.
As the Head of Faculty you will:
- Inspire students and colleagues alike across the school to achieve their potential
- Lead and manage the English department; devise and implement dynamic schemes of learning
- Monitor and evaluate progress in learning at every interval
- Be an aspiring Senior Leader with the ability to inform and contribute to whole school development
We are seeking an outstanding leader in English who will have the presence, experience and vision to further develop the department. You must be an exemplary classroom practitioner with a passion for teaching; a real enthusiasm for education and working with young people and the ambition and drive for career development.
