Welcome to the Centenary pages.

Since 1908 the schools based on this site have had a rich and varied past consequently we have decided to devote some web pages to the history of the schools and pupils.

Whilst Mary Abbott's "History of St Austell Grammar Schools" and Archie Smith's "Uphill all the way" provide authoritative accounts of the schools' histories to 1975, and then to 1982, here we have attempted to look at certain aspects in a little more detail which this media so readily lends itself.

We are particularly grateful to Ken Hunter and Paul Manning for allowing us access to their private photograph collections which enabled us to put together fascinating presentations of the aspects of school life Ken and Paul excelled.

We continue to build our photograph archive and would be grateful for any assistance. If you have any photographs that you think might be of interest then please send them to us at Archive, Poltair School or email poltair100@hotmail.co.uk

We are always researching the former pupils named on the Memorial tablet and would appreciate any photographs or information that you could provide.

Without wishing to neglect St Austell Girls Grammar School we would welcome any archive material.  In particular, we have very few school magazines and would welcome an opportunity to research them.

Any enquiries please contact poltair100@hotmail.co.uk.
